I test fitted my new service cover between games.

Where did this awesome service cover come from? I'd like to get one of these if possible.

Thanks

Pelican Parts has a similar cover, but it does not have the Porsche crest on it.

It was NOS from Ebay. It's part #PNA-505-996-00 but I think it's NLA from Porsche.

My car, C4S, came with a factory short **** kit. It felt odd to me like I almost was forcing it into gear or a bit too stiff. I replaced my motors mounts, they were sagging about an 1.5" and my tranny mount. It made a big improvement. The gear shift also feels more centered between third and fourth in neutral.

Went out and put a new battery in today and test drove the car. The short shift is cool! takes a little getting used to. Harder to shift from 2 to 3 don't know why but I sort of have to "force" it into third gear. I will report after driving for a few days!

Silver is the only way to go on blue metallic (in my opinion). Looks great!

Lets see, glued the trim around the windshield, (hopefully that cut down some wind noise I'm hearing), tried replacing the lic plate lights and front turn signals but the clips that hold the blubs for the plate light are very brittle and broke so gluing them back in.
the mount for the front headlights that dock the light harness are broken so after I fix the yellowing of the lens. I will have to fix the mount or pull the front wheels to plug them back in. YAY!!!

New motor mounts are here so maybe after I fix the headlights...

I too would like to pick up another roller next year. Maybe a Tip for the wifey...I'll put my low mile AT motor in it and have my spare done up by FSI

I'm trying to decide if I would buy a Tip or not.
Having one Porsche manual transmission is fine with me.
My wife can drive a manual if she needs to, but she prefers automatics.
Not too many years ago she felt differently...well maybe it was quite a few years ago.

I need to teach my son to drive a manual transmission, but I'm hesitant to do that in my daily driver.
If I had a spare vehicle, then I'd be more open to teaching him.
I just don't want to reduce my clutch life at the moment since I don't have a spare "just in case" vehicle.

That happened to me when I went to change my license plate bulbs to LED. The holder just disintegrated in my hand. They're not expensive to replace.

Changing the motor mounts sounds very manly when you tell other people that you did it, but they are one of the easiest DIYs you can do on the 996.
