I finally bit the bullet and got my IMS bearing replaced. After much thought and research, I decided to go with the LN IMS solution. The clutch was also replaced with the job as well as the AOS and RMS. Not trying to sound like a commercial, but I'm so happy I can finally drive the car without the worry of bearing failure. Comparing the drive before the procedure until now, is like night and day. Here is a picture just after the IMS solution was installed and just before the RMS was replaced. If you notice, the surrounding area around the IMS solution has been cleaned. When they first removed the transaxle, the area around the OEM bearing was nasty. Coated with an oil residue.

NuttyProfessor, the IMS Solution will also help re-sale...if you're ever inclined to sell.

Me, I ordered new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires this morning.
I should have them installed on Tuesday.

Also I'm waiting for some used center radiator and mounting parts from DC Automotive to arrive tomorrow.
They're in NC and they shipped them quickly after the hurricane passed.
I bought new hoses from Pelican, but decided to save a bit and buy the mounts and snorkel and other normally reused pieces from DC.
I also decided to get a used radiator for less than 1/2 new cost. (That might end up biting me)
I saved some money buying individual parts from two locations.
We will see if I run into any issues when I install everything within the next few weeks.

Thank you for the positive comment. However, I didn't look into having the IMS solution installed for resale potential. I went into it for durability, longevity, and performance. I'm hoping to keep the car for a very, very long time. Like most 996 owners know, the IMS bearing is the major weak point on these cars, but because of the research and development by Jake Raby and Charles Navarro, now these engines can last much longer and be saved from the landfill or metal recycle bin.

Good luck on your future radiator work!

replaced this- I couldn’t get the key out of ignition sometimes. Took me bout 4 hrs- good chance to clean everything. The interior scratches so easy so you have to be crazy careful with the prying and resting your gauge cluster on the leather dash surround. I had tried just replacing the electronic switch but that didn’t fix it. This was in a 04 C4S that already had the upgraded part. Fixed now it appears.

After a wash and wax yesterday, and an oil change the day before, I logged about 400km today.

Got a Durametric kit for the 996. No fault codes and 0 over-revs on my 996. 😃

Replaced light switch. My symptoms were no instrument light and no tail light, but headlight, fog lights (front and back) all worked. See how the light switch came out when I just pulled on it. It took about 30 minutes but the switch was rather expensive, at $142 from getporscheparts.com.

MOT time , it's been a long road back from last winter when I skidded over the kerb on the ice breaking off the drivers front wheel, luckily no chassis damage just sheared the front suspension and tracking arm, insurance wrote her off but I bought her back and fixed her up, all new suspension on from now, new brake lines, a bit of tidying up in between work and dodging the weather!!Name: photo189.jpg
