Definitely the 911. If it is your first P-car, the 911 will be able to be a daily driver, track car, family car and the start of your car collection. The Cayman is a great car, but you will always wonder about the 911.

Although I love my 911 I am leaning towards a Cayman purchase for my next Porsche. I've owned my 911 for 12 years and feel a change is around the corner. Go and drive both before making your decision.

Back in Sept 2017 I bought my first Porsche since my 1969 912 that I bought for $1500 in 1991.
I flipped the 912 6 months later for $5000.
I started looking at Porsches about 2 years ago.
I really liked the Cayman, but decided to go buy a 911.
911 is the car that I always wanted to own.
I was torn between a 996.2 or 997.1.
Then I found my 996.
It had the IMS Solution installed, clear bra, and Fabspeed exhaust, manual transmission, and under 55K miles.
Also it was close by and WAY underpriced.
I had the cash ready for when I found a great deal, so I looked at it (also checked everything with my Durametric) and bought it the next day.
I'm glad I didn't purchase a Cayman or Boxster, or else I'd be second guessing my purchase every time I saw a 911.
I might pick up a Cayman or Boxster someday, but it won't be to replace the 911.
I've been tempted to pick up a second 996.1 Coupe 6MT.
I found one locally with only 19K miles for $12,100
It has a rebuilt title due to a window water leak. (Immobilizer and carpet replaced)
Possible electrical issues are keeping me from picking it up though.

Three Wheelin'
I made the Cayman S leap after owning two great 996's. I was a die hard 911 guy. Having my Cayman for street and the track the past year or so has been a great experience and I'm already looking for another. I'm hooked on the Cayman platform. Drive both!

I’ve known about it for a couple of weeks.
I think I’ve decided to pass, but a friend (Vette guy) is thinking about it.
I told him if he has electrical problems, we can part it out and he will get his money out...plus some extra.
19K mile engine and tranny would sell well on eBay.
Hmmm...3.4 in a non-flooded Boxster would be fun!
Down here near Houston we have to be careful about flooded cars.
Lots for sale around here, and many are not advertised as such.
