Totaled 40th anniv 996
Gents,
My brother's '04 40th anniv. edition got side-swiped by a commercial truck and is for sure totaled..
I'm trying to assist him on coming up with a fair payout value from the ins company.. We got a number that seems low to me. (big surprise, eh?)
Car had 51K miles, completely stock, and was in good condition.
I'm not up to speed on 996 pricing so would appreciate some thoughts.

I would check this site out. The guy who runs it has compiled every 40th anniversary that is for sale out there.
I would think the insurance number would be at least 35k.

Hagerty's says:
Private Party Value- $26,152 - $31,087-50.8 Private Party Range.
Given 40AE and mileage options.
I would hold out for $36,774 or more.
Current Values
- #1 Concours $67,500 Condition #1 vehicles are the best in the world. The visual image is of the best vehicle, in the right colors, driving onto the lawn at the finest concours. Perfectly clean, the vehicle has been groomed down to the tire treads. Painted and chromed surfaces are mirror-like. Dust and dirt are banned, and materials used are correct and superbly fitted. The one word description for #1 vehicles is "concours."

- #4 Fair $22,000

Good to hear no injuries.
Sad to see another AE lost.
My buddy just totaled his 2004 C4S CAB TIP with 130k miles. Got 32k and is buying back. IMS Done and in excellent condition for a high mi P car.
I have 32k miles on my showroom conditiion, full luggage set AE.
Good to hear someone thinks these cars are appreciating after years of being part of the 996 hype worse cars P evermade story.

Thanks everyone for the input. After taking some of this data back to my brother (and subsequently the ins. company) they upped their offer by almost 9K. Needless to say, he accepted. My brother is a busy guy and travels a lot, so a quick resolution was a big factor. He was prepared to accept 33 and the offer came in a few K higher.
Sad, unfortunately, as now the car will be owned by the ins. company. Not sure where the car will end up, but based on the amount of interest from people regarding parts, I'd say there will be money to be made on that side of the transaction..
Thanks again, gents.

Nailed it.
Good luck with the car. Would like to see it put back together, and saved but sometimes not possible. Have to deal with the reality.
