Default Ignition Lock Cylinder Question

I have a no-start problem that is traced down to either the ignition lock cylinder or the transducer that reads the key RFID pill. Anyone know how to bench test the key lock cylinder? It only has two wires going to it, so I was wondering if all it does is close the circuit to the transducer so the transducer could then read the RFID pill in the key? If that's the case, it would be easy to test with an ohm meter. Thanks for any advice and Happy Fathers Day to all the other fathers out there.

There is a signal transformer and the coil .I think you are looking at the coil which has two wires -there is a good chance you need the signal transformer

So you're saying there is a coil within the plastic piece that is part of the lock cylinder and surrounds the key opening? I was thinking (hoping) it was a simple switch, and that turning the key closed a circuit.

Unfortunately it is not that simple .If it were me I would get both the signal transformer and the coil and be done with it .By Porsche standards they are not expensive parts .

Thanks - do you know if just the coil part can be replaced or do I have to replace the entire lock cylinder?
