Default This Can't be Good - Transaxle Noise

Had some unusual noise and vibration at the track last weekend, worse when turning right. I think I may have found the cause - see (and listen to) the attached video of me hand-turning it. Is this just the factory LSD (option 220) disintegrating or maybe the carrier bearings? Car is a 1999 C2 club racer (SP996) with an allegedly 'rebuilt' 6-speed Getrag with a few thousand miles on it. No other issues with the transmission - shifts perfectly. Any shared expertise on these transaxles is much appreciated.

I don't know exactly what is it, but it should be visually apparent once disassembled. Were you turning both axles or just one?

Turning one axle and the other rotates in the opposite direction.

If the other one turns in the opposite direction there is no LSD left.

Well, I brought the car to the shop and they put it on a lift to take a look at the transmission/transaxle. First strange thing: when we spun the wheels in the air, there was little or no noise like the one heard in the video above. The opposite wheel did not move when we spun one side. Huh. Stranger thing: When they cracked open the transmission drain plug there was a sucking sound like there was a vacuum in the transmission case ! Eventually the trans fluid (new Motul 300) started to flow out, thick with some greasy gray fluid mixed in, and as it drained the last half pint or so was almost like water it was so thin! We are thinking the vent of the transmission case was plugged, admitted water, or both. Later they removed the side cover and found that the factory LSD had detonated - nothing left of the clutch paks. Shopping for a track-suitable LSD now, likely going with a Guard.
