Well, PayPal is on him now. He responded and said he will immediately start a tracking investigation. Considering that the tracking number is still showing it is in preshipment, it is still sitting on his desk...

Well, I guess the threat from PayPal worked. The package was finally brought in and registered at the post office. Now considering he wouldn't send me any photos, I am hoping it is done to my satisfaction. How was the quality of the work Jimmy B?

Well, my e-brake came today ...

I have gotten screwed almost every time I send something away for a repair or service ...

Based on my experience with these guys I CANNOT recommend to them to anyone AT ALL ...

1 - awful crinkled leather wrapping of the shaft
2 - what is with the chip on the tip?
3 - asked for smooth gloss black - the black paint is awful
4 - he refinished NOTHING. It is still scratched - he just painted over it all ...

I HATE sending stuff away ...

File a claim with PayPal. You did not receive what you paid for and they will protect you. Don’t let this scammer get away with it.

And when it’s all resolved, email him a link to this thread.

Absolutely horrible.

Apparently he cleared his BBB complaints from this BMW forum thread (because there are none on BBB now) -> https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...er-Accessories

I truly don't understand his business model. It's not like he's making a gazillion dollars off of these jobs, why screw people for petty dollars????? And how can he continue to get away with it?

Escalated. We'll see if I get my money back. On closer inspection, he was supposed to remove the handle, which he claimed he did at great effort. I see no evidence of this. He just masked the aluminum parts ... I can see where paint seeped onto the aluminum parts. If this was disassembled as he claimed, then this would not have been the case. He was to disassemble this handle, refinish it and paint it. All he did was mask and paint over all the scratches. And the paint is awful. There was NO sanding and smoothing of the handle. He is a liar. I went to him because I couldn't remove the handle myself.

... anybody recommend someone that won't scam me and does quality work?

You might reach out to Paul Champagne. I don’t know if he does work on the 996, but he is supposedly very highly regarded in the 928 world.

Well, I won and lost the PayPal resolution...

I have been awarded the money I paid for the service, but I have to return my e-brake to do so. The brake is mine. It was never supplied by Alan Gunn. I am not returning my e-brake to him. I would rather not get my money back for the horrible work than send it back to him.

DO NOT USE THIS GUY!

Seems like you should protest the resolution arguing that you paid for a "service", not "merchandise", so there is nothing to return. Or send him an empty envelope with tracking to meet your obligation of returning what he supplied . I hope you are able to get the refund just on principle. I still don't understand how this guy can seemingly have a thriving business with his well-documented history of issues.

I have heard good things about Dallas Custom Steering Wheel. Don't know if they do handbrakes, but might give them a call and ask.
