Default Stone chips near door handle??

Hey guys,

Did some spirited driving today through some great roads, car performed flawlessly and the PS2's were fantastic.

Anyway got home and noticed three small stone chips near the passenger door handle?? Anyone experience this before? Or just stone chips fairly high up on the doors?

Car is an 04' C2 with standard Carrera 5 spokes with factory 5mm spacers.

I'm assuming the spacers are at fault here...

Thoughts?

It never ceases to amaze me just how much debris are on the highways and roads near me in Chicagoland. Just today there were a few metal bars or straps of what looked like aluminum bouncing down the highway with traffic going 70mph+.

I'm both annoyed and confused as to how they got on my door.

Hood and front fenders, meh to be expected but not the door!? I've got other paint work that needs to be done so I guess i'll have to add this to the list

I had similar chips on my door handles, DrColorChip worked well on some of them but not all. They have to be deep for DrColorChip to work.

They aren't deep they are down to the primer and catch my fingernail so they are significant

Nickshu do you run spacers? Where do you think your chips came from?

So another spirited driver over the weekend and more stone chips have appeared on the side of the car next to the door?

I really do think the spacers throw up crap at the sides quite badly

Had a fantastic 1,000km road trip over weekend with a great group of guys and their 911s.

Got home, now I've got stone chips below my rear quarter window!

Changed from 5 spokes + 5mm spaces to 8.5" and 11" GT3 MK2 wheels - with the extra offset they stick out of the guards at the front and throw up debris against the body...

Anyone experienced this?? Annoying as I've had that panel repainted and it was costly as a number of parts have to come off to paint it.

I have no experience with spacers, but if you just added spacers/wider wheels/tires and now you are getting chips very frequently, it seems like that has to be what is causing it. Getting stone chips on the sides and around the door handle is not normal at all -- not even over tens of thousands of miles in my experience. It sounds like you are getting them after a few drives -- that is not normal and (I would think) not a situation that is sustainable (unless your last name is either Maaco or Bezos ).

Hopefully somebody with experience with those upgrades will chime in, but it seems like you need to either find add some sort of wheel guards or back out the change - or maybe just try the new wheels without the spacers.

.

I've read wheel spacers (makes sense) will contribute to stone chips on the doors.

Posted this over on the GT3 section and someone said their gt3 has similar chips.

Its just the size of the wheels and offset, these wheels don't have spacers on them.
