Just bought 996tt, disconnected battery and now radio codes don’t work
hi, I have an 2001 996tt with the PCM and I disconnected the battery, but upon reconnecting power, the radio codes in the book don’t work.
Went to local Porsche dealer, they gave me codes of what showed in the system, but those aren’t being accepted by the pcm unit.
What other codes could the unit be looking for and how do I fix this?
thanks

The radio might have been changed and as such the old codes don't work, beyond that not quite sure.
Do you have any documentation that the radio might have been changed?

No i don't have any documentation that the unit was replaced, but thats the only thing that makes the most sense.
I have the serial, but i think i will call becker tomorrow to see if they can lookup the code based on the serial.
thanks

You might try pulling the radio. I had the same problem with mine and found that the previous owner had written the code on the top of the radio. He had also hand written it in the book and on the build sticker in the trunk.

I have already pulled the unit, several times, to verify that the serial number written in the book is the one that corresponds to that of the unit itself. Amazingly, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to simply decode the passcode based on the serial number. However, my local dealer just emailed back and said that they can contact porsche directly to have them release the code info. So we'll see where that goes.
