Default What does this wire do

So I am curious as to what the brown wire in the back of the radio does (does not connect to the radio). I wish I took a picture before putting my dash back together when I replaced the radio. But basically there is this plastic clip with two connectors on it which a brown (maybe brown and blue) wire went to. That clip had to be removed to fit the double din, but I am curious as to what it was. The wire only went to one she of the clip, there was nothing connected to the other spade connector.

Thanks again in advance!

Without pictures it gets tricky, however from the sounds of things someone else has been in there wiring things up. To my knowledge there aren't any spade connectors in that area that are factory.

Brown is usually ground

I just did some googling and another site is talking about it had to do with the radio alarm, and it should be just taped off an thats it. Everything seems to function as it should. I also read it is for the beep notification when you set the alarm. I will try that theory in a bit

Possibly, sounds plausible there should be some wiring diagrams somewhere.

Also if you get the beep it means something is open like the frunk or centre console lid for example.

So maybe thats what they are saying, I will get a beep because it will think there is an issue with the radio portion of the alarm

Correct, it's outlined in the owners manual (the beep)

I guess the question is can I fool the system into thinking its still the original radio?

Yes you can, I haven't done it but many members have installed aftermarket radios.

I might have been wrong, I think there might be a spade connector that is connected to the alarm system and looks for the radio.

Pelican have a good write up:

I was under the impression that it needed to be grounded. Please don't take my word for it, though.
