CDR23 issues - I have power but no sound
Yeah, I checked the Mute button first.
My CDR23 powers up just fine in AM, FM and CD mode, but no sound.
Any thoughts on the cause/solution? I'm gonna have to get a kazoo to entertain myself on long drives if this isn't an easy fix.
I know I could update the sound system, but I'd prefer not to do so.
Thanks

Check to see that the amp (should be in frunk) is powered up as well. If it is, check the wiring between the head unit and amp. If it isn't powering up check the fuse (it may be the same fuse as the head unit, which would be a moot point if the head unit powers up). If this is the case, there could be an internal fuse in the amp as well... Good luck

The best advice I have received about this issue is that you should always turn it off before you kill the engine. My advice is turn the car on, then turn the unit on and then off, then kill the engine, then cross your finger, then re-start the car, and turn the radio back on.

Good info and suggestions - thanks! I'll check fuses and also hope it simply works when I crank up the beast to drive home today. I've owned the car since 2007 and the sound system has worked fine up til today 9although the AM reception is a bit on the crappy side, which as I like the weather/traffic info on the drive to the office.

And we have a happy ending to this story; the stereo is back among the living. When I started the engine to drive home, I powered up the stereo and sure enough, lady gaga began singing to me. A quick station change and all was well again.

Are you sure it was the reception? I always thought AM radio was just crappy in general
