Nice work! Sometimes I glimpse down that rabbit hole of competitive powersports, and then remember how all encompassing it becomes. But once you've been in there, it's hard not to yearn for that feeling again! Sounds like a great weekend.

Car is well sorted now, so just did some maintenance (Joe Gibbs oil, new filter, fresh front rotors, new pads and fresh brake fluid) and a few minor tweaks. Installed a Gurney flap on the wing and raised it using Demon Speed uprights. Wing should be more efficient (more downforce and less drag) and I can finally see out the back window with the additional 4" height. Can't wait to get on track!

Season prep done, time to get out there.

Home Depot angle aluminum + 3M 2-sided body tape

3-M tape is incredibly strong.

Gained visibility out the rear with taller uprights.

Demon Speed makes these.
Jeff, the care looks fantastico! The SP996 National Championship is wide open this year. Good Luck this season

Car has been gone through, brakes bled, transmission oil changed, additional weight removed (now at 2688 lbs.dry) and a few minor tweeks made. Windshield visor added as well as a secret weapon to improve starts. Had a blast running with the H,I and J cars at LRP and hope to do the same at WGI coming up 6/1-6/3. Any other SP996 cars headed to the Glen this year? Beuller?

Amazing. Love the rear bumper and exhaust outlet. I've seen more and more SP996 here in NorCal, and hope the trend continues. Sub'd for future updates and posts!

Mixed results at the Watkins Glen Club Race. Car was a bit slower than last year, so I spent some time chasing possible causes. No error codes on the Duramatic, but it was very hot out on practice day and there was a new misfire at idle. I suspect a coil is bad but the issue only appears when it's very hot. I replaced all the coils 2 years back, but I suspect they should be replaced regularly given the additional heat and vibration of racing. Sprint race day was much cooler but I was still about 1.25sec off my best times at the Glen (2:07.25). And what was a faint rumble when turning right in Sprint 1 became a loud rumble and then sounded like a freight train (with some distinct vibration) by lap 5 of Sprint 2 so I had to pack it in. Lesson: Replace coils and wheel bearings regularly if you are running the car at the limits... cheap insurance. Had a blast at the event, great to see friends and as always, a well run PCA event. Congratulations to Steve Schindler from Vermont - he took First Place in SP996 with his fast, very well-driven 3.6L car. There were over 250 cars racing last weekend, and even on a long track like WGI, the action was pretty constant. Some groups were so big they did a split start!
