Guys, I’m hoping someone can advise if these journals are acceptable to run in a standard 3.4L. Dimensionally they’re in spec but they have surface particle breakout - the hardened layer is breaking through (I think).

As as far as I’m aware my options are:
- to run as is
- grind, harden and if there’s no distortion run it
- forged/billet - overkill?

my car’s a 3.4 with intake mods. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...5b532ebdd.jpeg

Hit it with some emery cloth, crocus cloth, or 1500 grit , wet with kerosene or mineral spirits to see if it comes off, may be bearing material stuck to the outside of the nitride surface. If it comes off then take it a machine shop and have it micro-polished.
