Default Help! Why doesn't my new tail light fit?

Hey all,

Got a new (to me) tail light set which have a manufacturing stamp of 2009.

Right side fits perfectly, left side not so much??

Any ideas? I bought all new parts for both mounting points - old light fits too deep new light sits too far out help please!

The only solution I can think of is cutting the channel for the mounting point further in so the light sits further into the inner bracket?

Car is a RoW 2004 C2.

Have found the answer to my own question, the lens has become separated from the moulding.

What it should look like:

Ah sorry left everyone hanging!

I ended up pulling out a little bit of the adhesive and pushed it back into place. The clip went back into the housing

I'll post some pics tomorrow

So just an update, installed this morning and it immediately popped back out.

I've used some epoxy to reglue the lense to the frame. Have to wait 24-72 hours for it to set!

What an adventure

"...popped back out..." HHHMMM...I would ask why. Is the light box or lense warped? Just dumb questions as I have never dealt with a separated taillight assembly.

My guess is a combination of things, manufacturing stamp of 2009 making them 9 years old, being exposed to the sun and external conditions etc etc.

Or more likely the glue has lost its strength because they are clipped and also glued onto the housing.

I've used some epoxy to hold the lens back in place, this is an unusual scenario. I'll report back once I've installed it.

I don't know what type of epoxy you are using, but in similar circumstances I have found clear Gorilla Glue to be the best and strongest adhesive.

Thanks everyone!

As I though it might be exposed to some extreme conditions I used 150kg Sellys epoxy that takes 24-72 hrs to cure.

Most likely overkill but I had it on hand, checked the box all good with plastic - made sure not to get it on the lens section.

For those that are interested this is the product I used:

http://www.selleys.com.au/adhesives/...uper-strength/

Its probably overkill, but its water resistant (it may get wet with washing) and primarily I wanted a fix that would last.

Dan: Did that fix the issue or are you still in the "cure time" period?
