2001 996 turbo coolant leak
noticed a significant dripping and pooling of coolant located on the front passenger side of the vehicle just forward of the right front tire. any ideas or fix?

J. Raby a while back pointed out all cooling system parts are more an age rather than mileage failure.
Rads. water pump's composite blades, hoses and such immersed continually in coolant.
Last year my pass. side rad. needed replacement at 58 km's.
Expect the drivers side will act up soon.

You have a few more screws to go. Parts diagram showing attachments http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=801-75

im not trying to remove the inner wheel well protecter, im just trying to open it at the top sufficiently to remove a screw inside and upward of the side marker as shown in several online front bumper removal. as usual what seems to be straight forward and simplistic seems to usually become problamatic for me. ive followed all of the fastener removals as noted in the videos, but i cant seem to get the inner liner open enough to remove what the video says is underneath the protector upward????? driving me nuts, and its a short drive

If so, yes there is a screw that needs to come out in that area that can be accessed without taking off the liner entirely. You will have to remove the plastic push plug in the upper right of the image you posted. If they are old try a light spray of WD-40 or silicone lubricant - then if they are old replace them. They are cheap.
Once thats removed it should give you enough space to pull the liner to get to the screw. However TBH its probably worth getting the wheel off and properly removing the liner.

thanks for your reply. yes im trying to remove the front bumper to access the right radiator/ hose leak. would prefer not to remove the wheel if possible. i have a limited space in my single car garage. i have already removed the plastic retainer whice you describe. i just cant get the inner liner to bend back enough to access that last screw. i have removed all other fasteners. very very frustrating

I think a longer Philips head screw driver helped too.
Is the bumper off or still at it?

im still at it. hehe, but taking a couple days off to plan my next attack. what do you think about using a hair dryer to soften the wheel well cover to make it more pliable? or wd-40??

If you don’t remove tire and wheel liner how are you going to get to the radiator/hose that needs to be replaced. BTW I ripped my liner trying to do it your way.
