2001 3.4 engine into a 2000 chassis swap question
Hello all!
Swapping out the dead engine for a one-year newer engine. Looks like there is a fuel injector change between 2000 and 2001.
My chassis is a 2000 and the donor engine is a 2001. The 2000 has a light green/blue injector and the 2001 donor engine has an all-white injector. Are they the same size and interchangeable? Is the 01 an updated injector design I should use because I have them or should I swap them out for what I think are the original 2000 injectors? I know by looking them up the white ones are considerably more money so I was no sure if they were overly different or just an improved design. And seeing as I have both sets, just curious which I should drop in.
Thanks in advance for any advice! Looking forward to getting this girl back on the road.

To stay out of any trouble you should use the 2000 model injectors.
The 2001 injectors are EV-6 design and 2000 injectors are EV-1 design. The EV-6 are an improved design and spray pattern. While they are same height and connector and even same OHM these particular ones have a slight difference in flow, the 2001 flows 24.7 lbs/hr(187.5 g/min) and 2000 flows 22.8 lbs/hr (172.4 g/min). While this is not a huge difference in flow , it may be enough to put you outside of the adjustment range of the DME. Very few cars run dead center of the adjustment window and if yours is biased to the rich side, the increase in fuel flow would put you outside of the adjustment window.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you PorschetechI3!!
I'll pickup some new O-rings and injector grommets and exchange them before hanging the motor and transmission.
Just about everything else looks identical so I plan on keeping the 2001 wiring harness and other sensors. If anything else pops in your head that I'm missing that's different please don't hesitate to reply again!
I've done the RMS, IMS (Pelican), AOS, & Plugs (OEM) so far on the engine. On the tranny/clutch side I've done a new Sachs clutch, OEM Slave cyl, TOB and TOB glide. All 2002 spec to match the 2002 transmission.
Cant wait to fire her up and go for a ride!
Thanks again Porschetech3!
