Default Numeric shifter and cables

Look what I installed over the weekend...I've had these sitting around for a few months (got a great deal on them) and was replacing my parking brake cables so I figured it was time to bite the bullet.
The toughest part was getting the rubber plug that the cables pass through re-inserted back into the tunnel through the floor. The key was to use plenty of lubrication. I used Chemical Guys Citrus based car wash soap, straight out of the bottle. It's super slippery and smells good too... I had a B&N Short shift kit in there before which wasn't bad but not great. The Numeric is in a different league.

Looks awesome, would like to hear some commentary about it once you've used it!

The difference is night and day, compared to a stock shifter. Everything is precise, solid, and “bolt action” like.

^^This^^ - No, I haven't driven it yet, but just sitting and shifting is a breeze. I first noticed that shifting with just the stalk (no boot/shifter handle) it was super easy - not so with the previous B&M with stock cables... With the shift handle/ball on there it feels really nice - as described above...

I have my shifter and cables still waiting for warmer weather.
Did you use the special tool from numeric for the cables?

When you were sitting in the seat and shifting through the gears did you make VROOM VROOM noises?

Vroom, Vroom !!! Oh yeah... (actually no, but it made me smile )... I'm not sure about "the special tool" you speak of. I suppose the answer is no. It was actually a very straight forward install except for re-inserting the rubber plug into the cable tunnel. Not bad once I slathered it up with soap...No special adjustments to the cables - I hooked them up, adjusted the turn buckles so the shifter stalk sat basically centered and upright (tilted very slightly to the left) and then tightened the mounting nuts on both ends (at the shifter and at the transmission). All gears seem to engage properly, though I suppose I won't really know until I get it out on the road.

I think NYoutftr may be talking about the special shortened bulkhead wrench that Numeric sells. I bought one, and used it. No drama.

Here is an instruction manual: https://numericracing.com/wp-content...tall_Guide.pdf

Also, there are a couple of good videos from Numeric on how to adjust the cables: https://numericracing.com/documentation/

In my 2003 996, I installed a new 997SSK from Suncoast.

I am going to pull that out and put the Numeric with thier cables in.
Then the 997 SSK will be forsale.

Yes, that is the tool.

I also purchased the rubber tubing to go over the cables, as some people have complained about noise from cables rattling.

I just figured do it once and be done.

Thanks for the video links

The numeric shifter completely changes the experience of driving the car in my opinion. The upgraded cables are nice but don’t make near as much of a difference as the shifter.

That's a nice piece of machinery between the seats! I didn't even know that thing existed as I would have probably bought it. I got "Ben's" shifter upgrade which was popular on the other forum and he started on here also...it's much nicer but this thing looks incredible.
Dare I ask the price?!?!?
