Default NEW DUAL ROW IMS Not as wide as original?

Just measured new IMS vs old (original) IMS - there is a spring ring inset on original and new ims has spring ring not built into it like original- is that used to retained?? Thx

The original dual row used an internal wire lock to retain the bearing.

The new replacement dual row bearing (if installing a Classic Dual Row IMS Retrofit) uses an external spiroloc to retain the bearing.
