My rennlist inspired 996 fear level is a 6 month moving average of repair costs. That said, agree it's a positive catalyst for the market. Analog sports cars are quickly becoming collectible, and the 996 just needs an irrational excuse to counter the irrational fear.

I shouldn’t have sold my Boxster for my 911. Here’s the ultimate track car deal

I figured at least a few people would hop on a 3.2 for their base Boxster since there is no core charge.

3.4 short block. Went all the way to check out and they never asked for a core charge. Free shipping. I would think you might get a call when you do checkout about your core?

Easier & better to do it with stock heads so you don't have to make any modifications. Plus you can sell your 3.4 while it's installed to get a better price from it. https://rennlist.com/forums/parts-ma...6l-engine.html

Just curious as they never did ask fo a core charge. It would be awesome to keep your short block and get a new one.

The dealer will ask for a core charge, or your existing core at time of order. I brought my core into them at the time I placed my order, thereby avoiding the charge. There was absolutely no core evaluation or inspection, just a “core” in any condition.
IMO, if the price is without a core, I think it’s a significant advantage.
