You are most likely ok.

Thanks. I saw your original response. Everything referenced 5-chain as okay, but haven't seen 3-chain referenced.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my thread.

I will try once again to remove without taking apart the intake plenum.
If the intake plenum is removed would that facilitate the removing and replacement
of my broken oil fill pipe as well?

Anyway, thanks again for the posts..

I know in PA it is a $10,000 fine.

The IMS is supported by the oil pump on the opposite end of the IMSB. You can see that when the bank 2 tensioner is kept in place, the bank 2 timing chain tends to pull the IMS to the right but such movement will be restricted by the oil pump. In contrast on the IMSB end, the bank 1 timing chain will pull the IMS to the left (movement normally restricted by the IMSB flange). If you remove the IMSB flange without removing the bank 1 tensioner, you will find the IMS off center to the left and you are screwed.

When the engine is parked at TDC with cam lock tool installed in bank 1 cams, there is very little tendency for the 4 cams to rotate. There's some but it's minimal and it won't be enough to rotate the IMS.
