What is the purpose of the cylinder liners in this engine?
they keep the cylinder round. at least, so says the marketing materials. they are typically installed after boring / stroking / molesting of the block.

Thanks. I just read that some people see this as an advantage in the Mezger engine because the liners can be replaced and the engine is back to stock specs - is that correct? Jeeze, if that's true is there any real limit to the number of times these engines can be rebuilt?
