I am looking at buying a used 1999 Porsche 911 with a H6 engine showing 65,000 miles. Are these engines trouble free, if they have had been serviced on a regular basis?

Do a search. A small percentage of these will grenade due to failed IMS bearings. Earlier models had issues with cracked heads. And there's also cylinder scoring though it doesn't happen as frequently on a 3.4.

Define "serviced on a regular basis." Owners manual and factory said 15,000 mile oil changes are okay. Experience now tells us 3-5K or once a year is far better. And you need to do some reading on the forum.

Yes these engines are trouble free. I've never heard of one ever having a problem.

Make sure you only look at the engine at right angles. Don't look directly at it and you should be fine.

Hey there, Guy. If you want to get into specifics after you've done a little bit of research, some of us will be game to chat with you about you potential 911 ownership. Based on this casual inquiry, though, I'd say no, they're not trouble-free. Keeping a '99 911 engine (M96 engine) healthy will require a bit of diligence on your part should you decide to purchase.

These engines will give you trouble. I’ve caught mine sneaking out in the middle of the night to hook up with the Subaru engine down the street. Also my engine is a teenager, so caught it smoking a few times. These kids cause trouble, but a PPI and some good parenting will go a long way.

The serious answer is they are Porsche's not Toyota's. There are somewhat reliable for a heavily engineered German sports car that is 18 years old. But the engines have been known to last between 10k-200k+ miles. If you can't afford to replace the engine, don't buy the car.

Depends on the bear’s hobbies and preferences.

I also live in the mountains and have seen a black bear come up on my deck and eat my bird feeders. I don’t live in the woods, therefore I can state bears don’t do everything in the woods. Therefore:
is DJT liberal = no
is the pope catholic = yes
does a bear —- in the woods = sometimes

So the yes and no cancel each other, therefore the answer to “is a Porsche engine trouble free?” = sometimes.
