Coolant leak during winter storage
No sooner do I put my 05 C4S in storage for the winter I get a text from my buddy (who graciously provided a spot in his garage) telling me there's a leak behind the front drivers wheel. It appears to be coolant and it's enough to have already left a wet spot on the garage floor after a few weeks. I don't want to pull it out for service and risk coating it in salt and I don't want a significant amount of coolant to drain out. Would I be alright adding coolant periodically during the winter months until I get it to my Indy? I'm also hoping I can get some time to take a better look at it and diagnose the issue but it's not really in a position conducive to working on it or accessing it much as it's wedged next to an early 70's Dodge Charger.

Why would you add more coolant just to have it leak continue to out? Have it towed and repaired!

Put a bucket under the leak & have it towed when it's convenient for your schedule. As the system's compromised, just make sure it's not driven while the system is low on coolant. I bought a two year plan through AAA right after buying my 996 and I couldn't be happier with the service. Nice drivers & quality flat beds are hard to beat. Good luck getting it patched up.

yep. taste it first.
AAA service worked well for me. idler on beemer sh|t the bed, making noise. Called AAA, come get the car and take it to shop. Surprisingly cheap and excellent service. Wify bought a membership a couple years ago........... dirt cheap insurance.

good point, hadn't thought about that. Hopefully I can get over there to investigate soon. Towing it would prove to be the more difficult option just based on its position in the garage and what's blocking it, hence my inquiry about adding coolant to replace that which leaked. In any case, I appreciate the responses.

alternative approach. borrow a coolant system pressure tester........... and use it. If the leak is coolant, the tester will make that clear. If not, you sleep well through winter.
