Default Suspension Comp - Ohlins R&T vs. X74

I currently run the X74 and have had ZERO issues with it - great feel, predictable loading and pre-loading...

I have an opportunity while getting some work done on the car to install some Ohlin R&T with 343# fronts and #686 rears...

Wondering if the bang is worth the buck. This is mainly a track car - so street driving is really rare. I'm not sure how the adjustability will matter as my home track is Sebring and is consistently hard on the suspension. I know that Ohlins tells you to run no more than 20 hours on them before rebuild in race applications....

Thoughts?

The ohlins are the best suspension available for the 996. Adjustable from street to race . Amazing build quality

My concern is two fold - one - the Ohlins have a pretty short rebuild schedule.

Second, the X74 coupled with the Tarret sways and end links is a top notch setup. The limited information that I can find online is suggesting that the spring rates of the X74 are nearly double those of the Ohlins. Keep in mind - the X74 is a Porsche engineered setup for track use...

First world problems - this I know.

I don't think you can loose either way. I'm sure someone here would be glad to take the X74 package off your hands if you went Ohlins.

Ohlins are superb but be sure you understand the service intervals and cost of same for track use. I am assuming you are not competing for a salary or cash prizes so why spend the effort and money to rebuild at regular intervals when the suspension you have is very good. The manual is available at the Ohlins web site.
