not all porsche turbos out there are running with bent rods though.

I've bent a rod in my focus race car, and in one of my subies. They don't run like it should and it's quite obvious there's an issue.

these guys are winning races. That doesn't happen here with broken motors.
How many 996TT engines have you built?

50% of the threads here turn into a pissing contest. They should be marked in yellow.

Whatever dude, I read more threads than you.

Fwiw, turbro guys out my way are more likely to do elective rebuilds than n/a owners on account of horsepower wars. Meaning, it's entirely plausible that double-bent rods are found on 'healthy' motors.

0. Not trying to argue with you. Just saying, the cars you get are broken to begin with. That's why they are in your shop in the 1st place. I'm saying not all of them will have bent rods.

Another idea for a swap would be a Subaru EJ257 with a big turbo. Easy to hit 400whp with matching torque figures and not have to cut up the car like an LS motor.

Last I read there where issues with the starters location. Not sure if anyone has overcome that yet.

thanks for the input.

ya I was just looking to find out about options for the this infamous 3.4l lol

In no way do I want to bash jake(if I can afford it one day I'd love to be able to use his services lol) and not really a desire to argue with people over engines. I just know I'm not he only one out there wishing there was some options out there for a little more umph from our motors.

I have learned a few things from this thread, so far though so thank you for that lol

Interesting reading about these engines, also that this place uses Darton wet liners in its builds:

Keep in mind, you're talking about taking a Porsche from a 5s 0-60 car to mid-low 4s. Doing so 'on the cheap' via LS swap has been shown to cost >$20k. So, unless you have a buddy that's a fabricator and part-time engineer, you're not going to make the car faster for less than $20k. Doing so requires a lot of ingenuity & effort.

If you want to feel Gs of acceleration and can't afford a turbo, buy a vette or a turbro'd 350z, etc. You will not find a cheap, reliable, fast solution in the world of Porsche. That combination just doesn't exist without some serious talent between your ears (which likely means you have the money anyhow).

awww!! You did it!! You responded with the dreaded cookie cutter "buy a ..." I have vett lol i have another porsche, ive had supras, stangs, camaros etc. i love this porsche and i have the funds to enlist mr jake if i wanted but i cant justify that kind of money into a $17k car. just out of curiousity i thought id see if someone has enraged the porsche gods and made some miracles happen with there 3.4l

its all good though

thanks
