Default Help identify whats found in filter

Cut open oil filter (as I always do when changing) and found just a few small pieces. The first pic shows all that was taken out of pleats after cutting open. My question is what you think the larger (still small) piece of orange color is. It has a hard resin look and feel to it. Chain pad? None of the pieces were Ferromagnetic.

Look forward to your opinions.

Based on reading other threads I thought that it may be pads although the small pieces appeared much shinier and smooth than others I've seen on other threads. Its a 2004 so MkII I believe.

Yes pads , it will be vario pads probably , can be done just by removing valve covers and cams , head stays on, might be hard without dropping the engine though!

I accidentally dropped them in there when doing my IMS, was so happy they did not get chewed up by the chains.
