Oil Pressure Issues
To start off I have had the "IMS Solution" (including new bearing etc) installed last year, using Mobil 1 0W40 and Napa Gold 1348 oil filter. About 10000 Km driven since then, with an oil change before putting it away for the winter (about 5000 Km). Car has just over 41000 Km on it, no abuse.
On my way home from topping off the fuel less than 1 Km from home I just had the Oil Failure warning on the LCD display and 'beep', as I glanced at the oil pressure gauge it was at 0. This happened as I came off of the throttle, the 'fault' cleared immediately as I revved the engine slightly. Pressure went back to between 4 and 5 as the RPM was at 3K, as I came to a stop and the RPM dropped to idle it was between 2 and 3, no fault light. In the past pressure typically stayed between 4 and 5 dropping slightly at idle. During my trip to the gas station (about 10KM) the pressure was between 4 and 5 but once the engine was warm I thought I noticed the pressure a little lower than typical at idle, about 3.
Oil level is towards the upper end of the range but not overfilled on either the dash board indicator or dipstick.
Any ideas?

Oil pressure when the engine is fully warmed up (between 190 - 210) is typically between 1 and 2 bar at idle. 3 bar at idle on a fully warmed up engine would be unusually high. The drop to 0 that you saw would seem like an anomaly/funky pressure sensor.

The same just happened to be a couple of month ago. I first tried cleaning the connectors at the pressure sensor (as recommended on another thread) but did not work. Replaced the sensor and all is good.
Replacing sensor if very straight forward. It is easily accessible from under rear right wheel. No need to remove wheel or shield. Just a 19mm or 3/4" (if I remember correctly) crows foot wrench, a universal socket and a 6-8" extension. Try cleaning connections first then just replace the sensor.

Crowfoot wrench with extension easy DIY job from the bottom up.

It is a fairly easy job - I did mine a couple weeks ago. One word of caution: think carefully about the direction you will need to turn the sensor to remove it from the block. Because you are using a crows foot wrench from beneath, the correct direction will seem like it should tighten the sensor when it will actually be loosening it. I almost found out the hard way about this :-)

Thanks for the comments.
I replaced the oil pressure sensor, contact were clean (no rust or oxidation on the old sensor). Seems OK now but it was an intermittent problem.
Once the weather warms up again I will clean and winterize it, so no extended drives until the spring.

Add another to the list... oil failure indicator light flashed on a canyon run last weekend. Shifted out of gear after seeing zero pressure on the gauge, pulled off the road immediately & shut her down. Once stopped I realized the pressure had returned to normal, no oil under the car and level was fine, so I drove home & read threads on here. New sending unit en route.
