There is a very small clip holding it in place I can see that you'd need some glue if the clip broke. Not sure why you'd need glue in the CGT style key though?

Just did mine.. Love it!!!

....As a side note, you don't have to pry out the original key lock tab. Simply push the internal locking tab back against the spring and pull the key right out..

...EDIT... I also changed my battery while I was in there and I just read that if the FOB light blinks rapidly that I should start the car and then press the unlock button within 6 seconds to reactivate it.. Unfortunately, I'm out of town until Sat. so will have till I get back...

Just got home a checked it. The remote did not work but car started fine. Once I shut the car off and pushed the button, the remote worked fine and it still blinks.. (keep in mind, I also changed the battery while I did the upgrade.)

I did this upgrade when I owned my 996. Its a very nice improvement over a worn key.

One note of caution - the little Porsche logo in the new keys falls out quite easily. You can buy replacement logos at Suncoast Porsche and use better glue to attach them. This happened to mine fairly quickly after I bought it.
