Default Rate my plugs

I changed my plugs from the POs NGK to the OEM Bosch plugs. Here are the old ones:

As you can see, 1-3 are slightly darker, but not oily. Any thoughts? Normal? Declare the car a total loss?

Don't know. I bought the car with 73,000 miles, but at that time the engine was recently rebuilt. I have put 10,000 miles on the car. I have run into several items where parts from the old engine were put back into the new engine, and these plugs show more than 10,000 miles of use.

As an aside, my highly tuned back side thinks the new plugs made a world of difference.

The plugs on the left look good. The plugs on the right...well...just curious if they are the same type of plugs. They look like they are either colder, older or both. Compare the numbers on the plugs are see if they are the same. Glad to hear you went back to the OEM Bosch plugs...smart move.

I will check, but I am pretty sure they were all BKR7EQUP.

That being said, NGK recomends BKR6EQUP for the 3.6...which are hotter plugs.

Every time I see this thread's title, I hear the subtitle ("Dear Penthouse Forums, I never thought it would happen to me") in a Woody Harrelson-ish voiceover...

I apologize for myself. Profusely.

As best I can tell from the pic -- the plugs are ready for their close up -- the plugs look fine.

Any big differences in electrode erosion?

A bit of difference between banks is not unusual. The AOS feeds into the intake that I believe favors the cylinders of one bank over the other with whatever passes through the AOS so there's that which can account for some differences between plugs from bank 1 vs. bank 2.

The electrodes actually look great. They probably could have stayed in there, but I am glad I swapped them out. I really think the car runs better with the Bosch plugs.

I am also a new owner. I changed the plugs on my 2001 with 48,000 miles as I was also not sure when the plugs were last replaced. The plugs looked very good to my eye and my mechanic but with the new plugs the car ran significantly smoother and quicker. My mechanic felt the same positive change and he is a 997 owner. We were both surprised at the impact from replacing the old but otherwise good looking plugs.
The plugs and tubes were spotless.

This^

You really need to show a close up to see how worn the electrodes are. Their colors look good and healthy to me.

They look great to me. The prongs have some minimal wear (not as sharp edged as the new ones).
