Default Locked out!!!!!!

99' 996, key fob remotes do not work, manually locked it last night and something broke in the connection between the tumbler and inside big lock. Battery is fine, alarm was set in the process, remotes have needed reprogramming.

So, how do I get into my car?!?!?!?! Closest dealership is 100 miles away and it is the weekend.

thanks in advance

AAA? Slim Jim? I don't know of many options if you can't manually turn the lock and your buttons won't work.

You're kinda screwed....break the door glass, It's the cheapest and easiest one to replace, you can get a used one on e-bay for less than 100 bucks, and to install just remove the door panel and loosen two screws and install the new one, worst part will be cleaning up the broken glass, you can fix the door lock while you're in there, then repair your remotes to have an option so that you do not get stuck in that situation again.

The way it's designed I don't think you will be successful with a slim Jim, and a lock smith will not help since your door lock is not functioning properly. Using the emergency trunk release or rear lid release will not help either, since the battery voltage is not the problem.

I appreciate any and all replies!

Two questions. First, what if I used the emergency "frunk" release and disconnected the battery for awhile, would central locking "forget"?
Second, what about the good old coat hanger for the door handle?

Thanks again!

You definitely want to keep the battery connected to give my idea a try.

If i'm not mistaken the door lock is always powered, I tested mine after awhile with the windows down and leaning in i was able to lock and unlock the door locks. So if you use a long metal rod, something stronger than a wire hanger needs to rigid enough to push and activate the power door locks, but yet small enough to be able to slide it in between the window and weather stripping. You'll have to maybe put some rubber tip on it so that you can have some grip on the tip to be able to push the door button at a angle without sliding it off. You should be able to activate the door locks by pushing the unlock button.

Good luck.... it's worth a try,

Why wont the key open the passengers side door?
I have nylon(think plastic) wedges that can be wedged in between glass and door seal or even the window frame of the door to make room to work a rod on the door handle . A piece of wood cut in a wedge would work. Use petroleum jelly with it if needed.

There isn't a keyhole on the passenger side door is why the key won't work on that side!

Not sure exactly how the locking mechanism works, but have you tried to roll down the window by turning and holding the key?

that is one of the features that doesn't work because the key lock doesn't work and is not connected to the lock mechanism anymore. But thank you

You may need to have a locksmith drill it out. Sounds like you need a new door latch mechanism anyway.

Try the wedges.
You'll be amazed how much you can open a window or door using them without any damage.

A tow truck driver wedged the door of my Cayenne open enough to open it using a metal rod. I couldn't believe how much that window frame moved and it didn't hurt a thing.

RSQ: You appear to be in "gnat" mode. Post won't show up until someone posts after you!

I was able to open my 996 when the plastic connecting rod from the key to the lock mechanism came undone: I used a long piece of metal rod (was actually a 5 or so foot long drill bit for running cables that I had laying around) with a taped on hook I made from thin aluminum pipe/tubing on the end (also just junk laying around). On the passenger window, I thread the rod through the weather strip and window at the back where it's not "locked in" like at the top and front ,and was able to hook the driver's side door handle, then pull. Since pulling the driver's side door handle unlocks the door, I could now get in. No window smashing needed!
