Default litronics in place of stock halogen 99 996?

I have been searching but not coming up with a positive answer.

I have found a set of litronics

but can't decide what is involved with converting to them

I seem to find things saying you can just bolt the litronics into my 99 996 c2 that currently has the stock halogens (I'm wanting to replace the orange lens headlights)

But then I also am finding things saying I need another wiring harness... it seems maybe I can bolt them in, but they will function more like a regular light, although still brighter and clearer then my stock ones. But that without an extra wiring harness the high and low beams won't "combine" when on high for even extra brightness?

Then I saw mention of possibly needing to replace the headlight fuse with something bigger (although then I again wonder if the wiring is up to that)

Thanks for the help

You dont need a harness. Just take out your old lights and install the litronics. Then adjust the height with the headlight adjustment tool from your tool kit and youre set. If you use the harness and module you will have high beam HID lights also but its not necesarry.

Fantastic, that means apparently I have to find a factory tool kit at some point as well since the car came with nothing... lol.

Yep, I personally learned the value of the Porsche OEM tool kit when one of my litronics got out of alignment. The adjustment tools feeds into a channel to adjust the position of the projector lens. Without that adjustment, I would be blinding people at night. Before I fixed it, people were turnin' on their brights to alert me... and flashing the lights and all. hahaha.

Actually, you have to switch pins 4 and 5 around in the original wiring harness if I remember correctly. (I would have to dig around to remember) So, it's not plug and play but you dont need a new harness as you can alter the old one and of course the ride height leveling portion won't work in your car.

I just pulled my halogen lights out and slid the litronics in.

This is incorrect. All you have to do is install the litronics in place of the old lights and then adjust the lights with the tool. Ive done this on 2 cars already.

You can find an allen wrench long enough to adjust the lights I believe.

Agreed. They are plug n play. The only functionality you lose is the auto-leveling that the factory Litronic cars have.

My hi beams do not work after the so-called "plug-n-play" simple change-out

Then you’ve got a problem. My guess would be it’s with the Litronics if the halogen’s hi beams worked before you pulled them.

What part doesn't work? The HID bulb? The fill in bulb? Both?

Your hi beams won't work until you switch the two wires around in the headlight plug like I stated earlier.

I didn't change any wires and my analog H7 high beams work fine.
