Just check the part number when buying a replacement some are interchangeable , if the part number matches your in business, look on the crank there are a few numbers on there but it's the one starting 996 ok

You need the same IMS drive gear design from a similar year, what year is your engine?

I found the solution. The 2.7 and 3.2 crank from the boxster 986 works with the 3.4 996 engine. Got a perfect polished crank ready to use for $600.
Thanks for for everyone's help.
