ROW M030 vs B6 HD with stock springs etc
Hi,
I'm looking into upgrading my stock factory suspension in my 2001 C4 mt6, my car has just over 100k miles and the suspension is soft and the rear struts need to be replaced because they are two different types (B4 on left and B6 on right) from an accident repair. The less I spend the better, as I blew the budget on the engine and transmission (clutch, flywheel, IMS soln, etc). So far I have three options each more expensive but theoretically better than the next. It is my daily driver and I plan to do a little bit of autox and maybe a track day or two a year. I am new to the sport and 996's in general. I may have to replace the front shock mounts and bearing, although they seem fine for now.
1. upgrade from Bilstien B4 to B6 HD and keep everything else stock. --$800
2. ROW M030 -- $1550 from Carnewal
3. H&R road and track coil overs. -- $1895 from ECS tuning
What I would like to know is if the ROW M030 is worth the extra $750 over just the Bilstiens and if I'm willing to go with the ROW M030 then maybe its worth it to get the H&Rs for only $350 more. I do like that the ROW M030 lowers the car a bit and that it is a Porsche product, whereas the H&Rs would require a lot more setup which would probably cost more money (how much??) and might be too low even at the highest setting.
Thanks for the input,
Dave

Thanks for sharing your experiences with the M030, that is the one I am leaning towards and it seems to be very popular here.
Has anybody here upgraded only the dampers to the Bilstien B6 HD series and left everything else stock? I'm curious to know how much of an improvement that would be compared to stock.

Tire Rack has the H&R coilovers at lower prices. The clubsport version was under $1700 when I looked earlier this week. If you want to be able to adjust your ride height it might be worth the extra cost.

Very happy with row030. Don't forget with coils you're going to likely want sways also. The row kit comes with x74 sways. Very well balanced. Performed excellent on the track even with r compound tires. .02

Question, I too want to upgrade my suspension on my 04 C2. Due to driveway angle I need to minimize how much the car gets lowered. Has anyone measured the actual ride height difference between stock,ROE M030 and US version 030? Also, besides height, are there any other differences between the ROE and US versions?
Thanks

Fitstly, it's R.O.W (which stands for - rest of world - I.e. Everywhere but the USA... The R.O.W M030 suspension is supposedly about an inch lower than the US version which is the same as the standard suspension height due to US DOT laws. Some people that have installed the ROW M030 have gotten little to no drop according to them. M030 Sways are not The same as X74 sways afaik (although I haven't measured them so who knows...). The C4/C4s came with M030 sways

I went from H&R springs / stock shocks to ROW M030 partly because on the H&Rs the car was too low to get into my parking garage at work. Loved the look of it on the H&Rs though (as in my sig pic), ROW M030 is definitely higher. I have floor-to-fender measurements somewhere pre-surgery; if I can find my tape measure I'll take some as it is now.

Might want to look at the overview here:
