I just bought a pioneer sph-da120, so I am looking for the installation kit. Will a double din installation kit for a boxster work for my 996? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the link, it will be helpful (as well as the other stuff I found on here) but I was curious purely about the actual installation kit. Crutchfield has one for the Boxster (Metra 99-9605B) but not for the 911. Are they the same?

My thoughts exactly. There is nothing special about the kits, they are just plastic. I can't understand why they would be $100+! I think I am going to try this one:

There are a couple threads on this, and on the Metra kit in particular. IIRC, the consensus was that the Metra kit will work but lacks the fit and finish of the higher priced kits. Your choice as to whether or not that's worth the extra $$$.

Double DIN head unit installation isn't difficult if you take your time. A long, flexible piece of plastic helps to snake the climate control wires down to the lower position in the console.

I upgraded my halogens to retrofitlabs xenon retrofit. Even retrofitlabs themselves say the xenon are better than the leds, at least their site said so last winter when I did the retrofit.
The install was relatively easy, the worst part was prying the lenses off and scraping all the glue off.

They are way better than the stock halogen headlights. I also sent them an email about the led switchback wiring and got a quick response.
The led turn signals have a slight delay which is't really noticeable with the stock side turn signals, but I have side morimoto side markers that make the delay more noticeable. (see attachment)
I also have slight problem with vibrating left beam, the problem isn't the kit but the stock headlight height adjusment which becomes a little loose when near the end of the adjusment range.
