Will There be $100k Solid 993TTs in the Near Future?

I suspect the buyers for these cars are changing. I would value the 97 more too, and I don't think there would have been much argument over this 5 years ago. I don't think the current buyers who want stockish cars care much about the 97 vs 96 ecu or the trans or the quieter brake booster pump or light over the ignition or the better boost hoses or clutch pedal switch (not really an improvement) - in cars they are going to use on weekends at cars and coffee.

3- what I have actually bought cars for personally.
4- my 21 years owning a used car dealership, managing exotic car stores, and being around these cars my entire career.
Like I stated. A car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. MOST people in the US, treat and value a 993 turbo as the same animal unless it's an S model.
I am not trying to argue or insult anyone, just stating my experience and giving as much factual information as possible.
The only reason I paid more for my current personal car that I own (a 1997) is because it had almost 10,000 less miles and the car is white, which to me is a more rare and desirable color then my 1996 Midnight blue car.
If my Blue car happened to be a 1997 with the same miles, my opinion is that it would have been worth the same money (except for the color because that has value to me that someone may not feel the same way about that I do.)

Some color changes as well I believe. 97 is glacier white. 96 is Grand Prix white?
Maybe this goes for other colors to?
Say you have two cars with similar miles.
One is a 96 the other 97
I would buy the one with better history, condition etc,etc
Pay according to that and not what year the car was produced.

Condition, Miles, Colors, Opts, Paint, Miles, Etc, all TRUMP Year, IMO....
A 97 With all those = $$$
As for the GT2 Comment, I Get That For Sure!! Except NOT For sale.

The decision would come down to the differences between the two models and the qty of cars made during the two years. In both cases the 1997 wins. A few differences and a more rare car. So year does have some relevance. Now how much? That comes down to the buyer.

I agree with you Johnny_law and AC/911.
There's a difference. How much is the question.
Seems to me....we're all kinda sayin' the same thing....only....differently.

Funny, am I the only one to notice how the guys who DON'T realize that there would be a small price difference in in a "like for like" '96 vs '97 happen to be the guys that own a '96

You can say anything about another car guys wife. Say one bad word about his car and you're in trouble.

I've owned both recently and I am not biased toward either. I feel that there is no value difference in a similar car from one year to another.
Like I said this is a message/discussion board with people's opinions. Thats why we have things to talk about all day and pass the time at work

May be it's like the options thing, where a well optioned car may not be worth much more than one without -on the used market. Does seem to be the argument used to your advantage if you are selling vs buying. For me for the same condition car, the newer with the improved 97 bits would seem to be the car that worth more but clearly to some people it's not. I like my 'exclusive' options - cf bits/rare steering wheel etc -would be worth more but I know buyers would refute that.. (strange how that works)

Just to be clear, since this is a technical forum, for prosperity, there are other less know differences from what I listed in my post above between 97 and 96. There were updates done to various parts like casting differences in the intake/throttle body and some electrical parts like the isv, there's probably others.

I had a look at some earlier market evaluations and there used to be a slight premium for '97's around 2010 but not since then. Data, not opinions rationalized or otherwise, measure and reflect the market.
