WTB Cargraphic or Ruf oil cooler
Thought I would take a shot here before I buy a new one. I'm upgrading from a Turbo S oil cooler. PM me if you have one that you want to sell. Thanks!

RUF has theirs listed as well and it looks like they are opening a new distributorship right in Torrance CA according to their site!

Thanks guys, good advise as both Gert and Ruf are good companies to buy from. I'll hold out for a couple weeks to see if I can find a used one first.

Hey Scott, I was fortunate enough to get a used one from a Rennlister a couple years ago and absolutely love it. It made a big difference in keeping temps down on track and in the mountains.
Hoping you have the same luck as I did. Let me know if you have any questions on the unit itself.

I don't track my car and have never had a problem with overheating. I just happen to have my front bumper off and thought this would be a good time to upgrade to a bigger unit in case the car is ever tracked. Stay tuned.....

Hey Scott, FYI, I installed the Cargraphic oil cooler on my 98 C4S with Protomotive stage 2 when I bought it. In the hottest summer humid weather here in North Carolina, the air still blows ice and my temp gauge barely gets over 8 oclock or just slightly past the first red line. I have no experience with the Ruf unit but the Cargraphic has been great IMHO.

Also, FYI, the Cargraphic is not a larger unit, it is an extra cooler mounted next to the AC in the left front bumper. All hoses, n mounts were included with my kit. A very professional bunch of hardware. I estimate the Cargraphic cooler to be at least twice the size of the extra turbo S cooler.

Heat soak refers to the intercooler not oil cooler. No?

Was referring more to the entire engine. The additional large cooler just helps to keep it in a better range all things being equal. The way I looked at it was the oil cooled turbos need all the help they can get. On a N/A car probably not needed as much unless tracking.

I guess it depends on use. Both mods help in their own respective ways.
Oil is cooled from air moving through it. It shouldn't matter if there is a forced air solution via a switched fan on a normal size vs a larger oil cooler. I would think a larger oil cooler sitting in traffic would get heat soak faster than a normal size with a fan switch mod under the same conditions.
My old 996 with a switched fan mod was an excellent example of that. I can force air flow with a switched fan and watch the digital coolant temp drop or not and watch the temp rise sitting in stop and go traffic.
If you track heavily in a modded car with short straights, then both a larger oil cooler and fan switch are helpful.

Chao, agree depends on use and needs. the switch is a nice way to go to help mitigate, but the ultimate solution is a secondary larger cooler, its all about surface area.
Oh and I'll try not to admonish you for talking about the 996, for shame.
