Default Range always "999"

I just got my "new" 1995 993 Turbo, and it seems to be quite optimistic when it comes to how far a tank of petrol will bring me. The trip computer always indicates 999 for my range, regardless of the contents of the fuel tank. Otherwise, the trip computer seems to be working fine. Any idea what could be wrong?

I have not seen this other than the board on the computer being wonky - there are known problems with solder joints.

Humour me here - if you sharply tap on the glass display on the computer, does it change?

Cheers,

Mike

I tried tapping the glass display. Display remains stubbornly at 999
