Default Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel Fix or Solutions

Hello,

I am writing this thread helping my friend who has a Y25 Exclusive option which comes with the interior fully carbon fibre.

His steering wheel which is in Flamenco Red has cracked carbon fiber. Would anyone kindly suggest me a place to recover the Steering wheel in new Flamenco Red leather and replace/fix the carbon fibre.

I am also sourcing a new airbag in flamenco red (leather stitched) as the previous owner has installed a Air bag delete piece that is in carbon fibre pattern which looks very gaudy.

Pictures of the car its Guards Red over Flamenco Red.

Notable options Y25 Carbon Interior and X79 Air Outlets in rear fender ie Turbo S style.

Might I suggest searching for someone who does carbon fiber bicycle repair? I've never tried it but I know of some biker friends who've had good success with refinished carbon pieces. Obviously it's a stretch but you never know, and it might save you $$$ by thinking outside the box. I see you're in Kuwait but for the other half of the puzzle, I've heard classic 9 leather shop in Michigan does good work.

Try these guys. They will be able to talk with you about the carbon as well - but I don't think they do that.

Also try TechArt - they do leather repair and maybe carbon as well.

Marcus is one of the "good guys", and has been flawless with his CF pieces. You can trust him.

Good thread. I also have the carbon steering wheel and while the leather is perfect, the carbon on the top of the wheel is cracked in more than one place. Can you PM me with what it would cost to remove and replace this top carbon part.

Thanks

http://www.carsdream.com --- you do not need to send the airbag, only the airbag cover which is easily removed from the air bag.

Good to know there is a source to fix CF!

So how close to OEM is the wheel airbag leather stitching? I have noticed on many 3 spoke airbags recovered it doesn't really match OEM, even though good quality - from shops in Dallas and the one in Poland.

Everything is factory perfect. The person I deal with is a B2B business. He supplies and does the leather hides for various Porsche German aftermarket tuning house.

I have a non disclosure agreement with him.
