Ruf upgrades!

Have been busy doing a cheap mans turbo R, it's taking a little longer than I expected. Nothing new there...... I'll try to post some pics and explain down the road when things are starting to come together.

Started of with a really clean 58k mile tt that pretty much have been sitting for the last 7 years. Bone stock as seen in pic 1. First got new Bilstein 10s and the ruf wheels that I've always loved on the 993. Drove it like that and waited for the bumpers and mirrors to arrive from Germany. Took forever and the mirrors never showed up. Not a big deal.
As someone said here before, the bumpers needs a lot work to look nice. Happy to have a good body shop:D:D
At the moment I'm waiting on the round tts fog lights. Didn't look good with old ones in the new bumper.

coming together nicely I took the same route as you

If you do the engine... you will NOT regret it... whole different car... and the real thing! ;-)

She looks good.

A nice start. For a seriously clean look, consider the front ducts WITHOUT the lights, getting rid of the headlight washers, the Ruf mirrors and Ruf a-pillar fairings. I would also say that the Ruf steering wheel and Ruf shifter just feel oh-so-nice in the hand.

Starting to look very familiar...

Looking good! Can't wait to see the finished product.

With no Ruf rep in the US at the moment it's getting harder to get all the right stuff for these cars! I'll hoping to do the engine down the road, mirrors and shifter/e brake seems almost impossible to get a hold of! You lucky ones that have a turbo R. Hold on to them! Mine will probably be a compromise. Do you know where I can find ducts without lights?

Yes, a bummer about no US distributor at the moment. Ruf Germany will be happy to ship whatever you need (if they still have it). The ducts came from "Better Bodies" I think.
Are your rear wheels 10" wide or 11" wide? What tires did you choose?

Thans for letting me know about the ducts. They look great and I found them on better bodies website, wheels are 11 rear and 8.5 front. And I did put Michelin super sports on them. The washer doesn't bother me to much. Would love to get a hold of a ruf shifter and e brake...... But will likely go 996 gt3 buckets and a 993 rs wheel. Just don't like the look of the Ruf wheel. If I decide to keep airbag I really like my 996gt3rs wheel. This will never be a track car but just for the looks it would be awesome with a ruf cage........:thumbup:

Love what you're doing with the car!
For your parts, just contact Ruf directly in Pfaffenhausen. Great service and easy to deal with!

Nice project and slippery slope to date!

Glad to hear the bumpers fit nicely, I've only seen one TurboR local to us and noticed the front/rear bumper fitment wasn't 100% and this was from one of our top local body shops too. They claim it's very challenging.

Thanks for all your comments and support, the front bumper still needs a bit of work before paint.

Nice work in progress! An alternative for the front is the Techart fog lights and brakes cooking ducts (sold by Carnewall). Good luck with the rest of the upgrades!
