993tt all single plug? I bought a dual plug 993tt.
 

Hey guys sorry for the dumb q but are 993tt all single plug? I bought this 1996 993tt and the guy spent $90k on engine build. He had just put in an AEM infinity 10 ecu with motec CDI etc. The heads where converted to dual plug with bigger intake and exhaust valves. Just too much to list but my main concern was is this a white elephant or similar to Andial 3.8 dual plug 993tt? any help?

Well I for one am jealous. If I had twin plug heads that were welded(reinforced) then I would be running EVO cams and still pass our SMOG requirements....can't do it with single plug heads.

Not that you are looking to do it but sounds like you have a nice platform to make big HP....I mean if you ever get bored at where it is at. Any ideas on the rods and internal parts that were put into it? Is it a 3.8?

Im not sure if its a 3.8. But It has custom pistons, titanium valves, switch over from hydraulic lifters to mechanical, full internal upgrades some I don't even understand.

All 993tt's a single plug stock. Dual plug motors were built by tuners to improve on timing and get better hp (due to the asymmetric placement of plugs in our motors). Most use aftermarket ecu as in your car's case since it is more difficult to use modify the stock motronic to run twin plug. Afaik, andial (fvd) and rs tuning are the only tuners that have fully motronic controlled twin plug ecu. Protomotive use motronic but use an external boost controller. There are 3.6 and 3.8L twin plug builds. Some keep the 3.6 heads/pistons for reliability/head sealing/lower mass. Turbos will also be of various trims.
Can't really tell what you have without knowing who did the build and the build sheet. I don't think you can tell what displacement from just looking.
Some people value the built engines, some tuners are valued more than others and can add value. Most builds reduce resale value.

Nice! Sounds like you have a monster on your hands and I'd guess from your description that it's a 3.8. As far as I know all stock turbo motors were single plug and while I'm sure there are others who have done it, Andial is probably the most well known twin plug conversion. I don't think the Ruf Turbo R conversion even does twin plugs.

Well with the gt2 cams, and titanium valves/mechanical lifters, someone's spent a lot of money, and likely a pretty serious build, you're making good hp, depending on how your ecu is tuned and what turbos you have.

You are correct... Ruf Turbo R is still single plug and hydraulic lifters. Still... amazing performance.

You need to find out Exactly what Turbos are on the Car, A Newer Hybrid rebuild with all that car has will Really Perform.

its like 18 pages guys take a look and any help is appreciated. The owner had motec m600 ecu and $15k of motec stuff now switched to AEM infinity ecu. I need an experienced tuner in MN that can really sort this beast out.

Wow that's a pretty serious build. 3.6 but with a lot if goodies. But hard for me to believe you bought the car without knowing what you were getting???

Yes that is a serious build! It looks as if there was no expense spared. What happened to the engine? Is it running? From the looks of the car now, it looks like it might have been partially parted out, wheels, front splitter...etc. Love to know more about it. Hard to understand how someone could pour that much money into it and sell for $77k. Thanks for sharing.
