Default Turbo Sealing Rings

Random not so important question and not sure it even matters... but I have never received a straight answer. Which is the correct side to install in the milled out circular turbo channel?

On the Sealing ring there are two different sides, on one side is flatfish and the other is rounded.

Which side is the correct one to mount in the turbo channel and what side should be facing out to mate up to the header?

The crimp always faces out.. The rounded edge no crimp goes into the turbine housing groove.

I have taken virgin turbochargers off these cars when near new and that was how they were fitted from the factory. The same thing with the 996TT.

If installed incorrectly they will bite and lock into the housing groove making removal a PIA.
