A 993TT is a great car for $65k. At $100k+ you can keep the damn thing.

ridiculous.

please tell me you're kidding. The only benefit of this rising price crap is that you can drive it without losing your shirt.

If you are so giddy about the price appreciate that you don't want to drive it, you want an investment, not a car.

That is probably what they said about the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO when they were selling between five and 10 million. Good luck buying one today for 35 million

those are not driven automobiles. I have zero interest in garage art.

You may not have an interest but apparently many others do.

You miss the point; it was not an investment car when I bought it. I was simply much more comfortable driving a car that was worth $75k than one worth $125k. You may have a different view - that does not make me wrong or you right.

Quad is just a Porsche owner with an attitude. He has his point of view. You take it or leave it...Personally I bought my car to drive but now I question that as well. When a car you own goes up in value around $30K in just a matter of months it opens the door to a range of other options. Don't get me wrong if the market dropped out of them tomorrow so be it but if it holds at this level I have to re-evaluate. I could see investing $70K for my 993TT but I wouldn't have spent $100K for it. So now do I stay put, hold out for a 2010 GT3 or get a nice Carrera and have a few really nice vacations for the next few years....

I too wrestled with this dilemma! I just traded my 993TT and 08 Cayenne plus a little cash for a 2011 Turbo S Cabriolet with a MSRP of $193K and 5,500 miles. I know the 993 will appreciate and the 997 will depreciate but I sure am enjoying the new ride!

you miss my point. If you aren't selling it, why are you even thinking about the value. Continue to think of it as a $75k car and any bonus you get when you sell is just icing on the cake. I never go into the garage and say, "man, i really wanna drive the 993, but it increased $1,000 in value in the last month, so I'll just take the benz instead".

If the value bothers you so much, why not pick up a high mile car in good shape for $60k and drive that one!

Based on this post, you prefer other vehicles to the 993TT, which is totally fine. You simply didn't buy what you really wanted due to money issues, which the 993TT has alleviated for you.

so, sell the car to someone who actually wants that car and didn't just settle and everyone will be happier.

And yes, i have an attitude...an attitude by which I find it very silly that there is so much discussions about value on a forum supposedly filled with car enthusiasts. Car enthusiasts enjoy driving, not doing NPV.

What is silly is the notion that being a car enthusiast somehow precludes one from rationally taking into account the underlying economics.

Not Kidding ! I got cars but my 993TT is more than a car to me. I don't feel the same regarding my non-winter DD 997.1 GT3, or my hi miles snowmobile 993C4S.

BTW, where are you seeing in good shape, hi miles 993TT for sale at $60k ?
