Default My latest project: Hydraulic lift and others...

This was a Xmas/New Years project that has taken some time. Just lifted the car today for the first time.

I must first say before showing all these pic's that I uncovered this idea from the 993 forum from Mark (coreseller) who did an amazing job on the original thread and who I reached out to during the project for help. He was a great help to me and I couldn't have done it without his advice and previous work. You can see this thread in the 993 forum. Search "hoist" and you will find it. It is the Greg Smith Equipment lift.

Much work was put in to this project. If you have questions or want to see other pics I have them.

Thanks for looking... I'm happy to be done. Next stop, engine drop.

Cheers,
Bryan

Default Thanks!!

Also, forgot to mention... I built some shelves too. I just wasn't busy enough while I was waiting on drying, setting up cement work, curing of cement, wood cover build (not shown), etc...

Awesome job Bryan. This is something I have in my future. I saw the other thread and I have been thinking a lot about it. Yours lift looks great and is just feeding my desire. I may ask you some questions later.

For now Kudos to you.

Hey, I might have to come down there and use your lift sometime. Do you have all the tools? If so I'll bring the beers. :-)

Always happy to help as long as the lift isn't being used and what you planned on doing. I like beer!

Thanks for the comments as well. It wasn't easy but the end result is great!

Are you going to put some type of cover over the lift? like steel sheets or aluminum so unsuspecting drivers don't drop a wheel into it

I have built a cover already. Wasn't included in the pics. I used 1" sub floor that I cut to shape and routered out holes to include flush mounted spring handles. The cover sits on top of the lift arms and the picture frame inside with the fake decking material. Works great.

I have seen it makes a great table for beer.

How do you think it would hold up if a tire ran across it, laterally? Is it only supported by the lift arms and gapped everywhere else?

The reason I question this, is that my shop is "L" shaped and I store my boat in the winter in the back corner. In order to get it there I would traverse the location where I would like to install a lift like yours. Not sure it is doable.

I would think it would be fine. I have 4x4 pieces placed in strategic areas where there is access to the floor through the lift that are attached to the underside of the cover. This way it gives multiple support points to the floor including the actual lift jack point and the outer decking perimeter.

I will post a couple pics when I get a chance..

Thanks Bryan I would appreciate it. I am in a slow process of beautifying my shop. I'm hoping to start a lift project come spring/summer if I can make it work.
