Building custom exhaust.......Tip leads?
Hello, decided to build my own exhaust but need some advice on SS tips for show.
looking for nice wide tips that will clamp up to my 2.5" pipe. Most out there are 2.25". Any bigger out there that anyone knows of? Stock uses 2.25" but then goes down to something like a 2.18" at the tip clamp.
.....Splitting hairs and fractions of inches I know. But from old motor head days I believe that even fractions of inches make a BIG difference in sound.
thanks
Joe

Not exactly sure what you are looking for... are you wanting to avoid the clamp at the tip? The turbo S twin tips clamp on to the muffler exit pipe without the use of the clamp (you have to cut the pipe) - afaik. I've made multiple tips, some quite hilarious when looking at them now. I made mufffler bypass that clamped directly to the outer diameter of the heat exchanger 3.5" at one point, they looked cool actually. I think I need new tips for my new engine, I'll make a set using 4" pipe angle cut and taper down to 2.5" to fit the clamp off the muffler (muffler bypasses with the sport cats are a little loud for me).

Muffler bypasses with the sport cats? No, I'll bet it sounds great. I've got partial opposite, thas is, cat by-pass with Fisters.
I'm just asking for the impossible. I want to bolt on a larger diameter ss tip (like anyone) that doesn't go down to 2.18" at the connection point. What's the point of having a 2.5" exhaust if they all go down to 2.18 at that final union? And i can't fabricate one that would be as pretty as one that is manufactured. Apparently that doesn't exist though.

Sincere Thanks!!!
They do look like they have value in them at that price, but I don't suppose you know the diameter both at the end and at the connection?
Do they "look" bigger than OEM?
Thanks

996 style???? But how? Stunning!!! Absolutely stunning!!! ( not to mention euro bumper too!!)
@ Pervy: Are the smaller outlets functional (holes all the way through) or just dummies with the larger being the only true hole? Saw dummy ones on eBay but not sure if oem 996 tips are an actual dual hole at each tip. Please advise.

Three quick questions:
1. Are all the OEM exhaust tip internal diameters 2.25"?........ even with the wide ovals? (so those big wide $$ optional ovals go down to 2.25" ......just like the the standard ones? Think that's not right. I prefer 2.5".
2. Anyone know why a NB 993 tip will not fin on our cars? No chance of fitting with a lil "encouraging"?
3. @ 911PERVY Where did you get your 996 overlapping ovals? Wherever I see them there seem to be no dimensional measurements. The only ones on ebay that do offer a measurement stretch 6" across externally and I dont think our bumper will accommodate that. So yours must be 5" or less across-but where did you find it?
thanks

1. Pretty much as its the muffler size that the tips have to be the same as, the muffler needs to be the same as the cats, 99% of aftermarket parts are made to fit along side OEM parts
2. A NB tip will fit a turbo, they will just stick out about 1" more than the correct turbo ones
3. I made them, your correct in that all 996 tips are too big for the 993 bumper, they also dont have a central entry which the 993 needs
