Default Thermostat issue? Oil temp gauge only goes to 8:00 position

Not sure if this is an issue. Runs fine, kept rpm's low for the first 10km. After 90 minutes of driving mountain and highway roads, gauge just now reads about 8-8:30. Thought a faulty thermostat? 20C outside

Appreciate your experience with this.

How long have you had the car, and has it always been this way, or a change?

What does the car do in the hotter season?

Cheers,

Mike

How many oil coolers do you have? there could be an extra one installed on drivers (left) side. You can check the oil lines under the car to see how hot they are. if you have a point and shoot thermometer you can get it from the front grill to see how hot the oil is.

Good ideas. Seems to run fine, I've not had it through our so called winter here before. In warmer weather, goes up to about 9:00 which everyone seems to say is normal. Later short runs today, it warmed up pretty fast and oil lines were warm. I'll keep an eye on it.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Sounds normal. With single original oil rad, mine runs at 8 and max's at 9 on blistering hot days in traffic with engine trays on.

Engine temperature between 8 to 8:30 after a spirited run at Luk Keng in 20C and in the rain is about correct
