I'm sorry to hear of your loss. My guess is than Sandy took even more from you if you had a house on the Jersey shore. I had a friend who lost his place. While the low mileage 993tts are getting rarer, they are still out there. I would strip off the special bits, even though it is like picking over a corpse....on second thought maybe get somebody else to do it for you. If you owned this car, I'm betting you have the addiction. There may not be a new car to scratch that particular itch. I can tell you the 991 didn't do it for me. So give yourself a bit of time to recover...and start shopping. There isn't much in life more fun then shopping for a Porsche. Good luck to you.

Wow. Tragic loss. Just terrible. Sorry for your loss. Is the insurance company offering a buyback?

To all thank you for the condolences.
I should hear about a buyback from salvage (for those interested) only once the car is removed, which should be any day now. I don't know where its going or what that amout will be at this point.
Regarding the seats, they were submerged to the cushion. I would think any motor or control would be ruined and would have to be replaced. Any visible metal is already rusting and the leather is already getting spots of mold.

Sorry for your loss. However, it is only a car; a really nice one for certain, but it can and will be replaced. As you pointed out lots of people lost more than just their cars. You'll get another one and life will go on.

Terrible luck, maybe you can pick up another or even a 997tt if the insurance co treats you right.

Rule #1 ... don't search the username of the person that bought your car from you.

If you buy it back, it most be cheap, flooding to that level is the baddest thing that can happen, everything will be damaged, engine and trans. will take water in no time rendering it useless, same with the electronics, the only things that might be salvaged are body panels, and the parts that didn't touch water,. etc.,good luck, cheers.

I am guessing that what Robroy72 means is that it was his car in the past. And he was sad to see that it was totaled.
