Default A World Gone Mad (or at least two guys)

I just saw the final selling price of a Riviera Blue 98' C2S on E Bay....120K! WTF. This was a car that had to be heavily discounted to sell when it sat on the dealer's lot when new. It has only 12,000 miles, so it hasn't been driven much in 14 years, which is not the best care for an air cooled P car. It is a color that I would have avoided then, but now it is in vogue, I guess. As I understand it, the C2S was a wide bodied car, ie turbo bodied, but with none of the turbo upgrades likes brakes. There were some minor cosmetic touches, but zero performance upgrades. I may be wrong about this, cuz my memory is really crap, but how in the hell is a C2S worth this kind of money. I mean no disrespect to C2S owner's. I have owned 2 993 NB's and loved them both...the same car with narrow hips in terms of driving dynamics. I'm thinking tulip bulbs here. Saying the market is, what it is, does not count as a valid response. I really want to hear what your take on this is....Chris

No c2s is worth that kinda money. I think that was a case of ebay bidding...with no buyer.
fwiw, there is a thread over on the 993 board about it.....not a happy ending at all.

Long thread explanation below in the Midnight Blue Turbo thread. It caused No HTwo O to be banned.

Car ended up selling anyway. Long story, bumpy road, car sold anyway.

Looks like the fiasco didn't help this car, coincidentally showed up on ebay soon after: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/?cmd=...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT
