After discovering my front tires on recently acquired 1996 993tt are a) 14yr old (!) and not surprisingly b) shot, am about to replace all 4 (rears are 5yr old and about 3/4 gone tread-depth wise). Shop that did some unrelated recent work pointed out to me that the fronts were shot, specifically with more inner edge than outer edge wear, although I do to think they recognized how old the tires are, either.
Seems to me a 4wheel alignment would be a good investment at this point with new rubber, who do you prefer in the suburban Philly area?
