Rear seatbelt in my '96 TT stuck
An ex-mechanic averred that it's pretty easy to fix, something about a pin that gets out of shape???
Is it easy? If so, what do I have to remove? I'm pretty handy, but if this is gonna take half a day it's going in
Thanks in advance...

No it isn't connected. It's about 14-18" out of full reel in and not buckled.
yep, the kids love it back there but Daddy drives slowly when babies are not fully locked 8<((

Can't remember the details but it was straight forward to fix. Just a little tight in space to get the rear self and stuff out if you're a bigger guy. I'm small but still, not much room in the back. Don't remember it taking long at all.

Just a bunch of phillps screws that are easy to see and a bolt for the seat belt mech. Don't remember having to do much to the seat belt mech it self. Just fiddled with it until I got it working.

pretty straight forward;
hectic part; remove both speakers
easy part; remove 4 screws from back panel, behind both rear seats backrests. (take care there are washers)
bring the panel towards you, you will see the seatbelt reals
the mechanism is jurassic simple
ps, if you do not remove the speakers, the panel still comes, but the electric speaker wires are held on
body panel, so you might break a speaker clip or something

yeah, tried the 'hard yanks" several times
I was wondering if I had to dismount the speakers, thanks for clearing that up
OK, Sat afternoon project is set...

Just wanted to thank you fellas
Speaker wire was a nice plug that came off easily and shelf lifted straight out as advertised. Belt was stuck short so had to unscrew the base (17mm) and then the same at the top.
Belt was wrapped all overlapping the ratchet inside so the yolk that grabs the teeth was stuck in engaged position.
So simple, I could fix it. Wow, maybe I should be a mechanic.... or maybe not
Again thanks

Love this forum for info!
I have the exact same issue currently!
Thanks to the community here fixing things is often within the reach of us mere mortals(with less than ideal mechanical inclination/ability)
