Default What can I install under an aftermarket wing to better protect the engine?

Ok, so arguments pro/con putting a turbo tail on a 993 NB aside, and arguments for factory/OEM vs. aftermarket aside, I purchased and installed the pictured aftermarket fiberglass wing (admittedly knowing virtually nothing about Turbo wings).

Mechanic sort of said doom and gloom saying that there should be something better protecting the engine. Prob makes sense, but it isn't like they are air/water tight to begin with.

So A) Do I need to worry about anything, and B) if so, what can I install underneath the wing to better shield the engine while still allowing air and cooling?

Thanks

Protect the engine from what, bird strikes?
The only thing I could suggest is you are missing the inner grill, which offers less protection from bugs than your screen, but I would guess your screen door restricts airflow more than the inner grill.
You are fine. Do what ever floats your boat appearance-wise. I darn sure did!

Agreed. What's the difference between an OEM NB grill (up or down) and a turbo tail in terms of allowing/preventing water/dirt/debris ingress? Virtually nothing. A turbo tail on a turbo car allows water ingress into the engine bay and YES there is an intercooler there, but that's about as water tight as a sieve.

I say, no worries.

A huge intercooler will help big time.

Default Aluminum automotive mesh

Sold at most auto supply stores.FVD also sells it. You can paint the mesh black if you like.I use the stuff to replace the plastic front grills an all of my 993's. Protects the secondary oil coolers better than OE plastic grills.

I think you did a great job and Im sure the screen youve used would be fine. Best of luck and nice turbo tail.
